Industrial Electrician

BioPower is emerging as a major stakeholder in the Canadian forestry sector, committed to sustainable forest management and pioneering new technologies for creating renewable energy sources. As site Electrician your responsibilities will be to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.

Job Summary:

  • Read and understand electrical schematics and effectively troubleshoot electrical controls
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments
  • Work with maintenance management system in order to conduct preventative maintenance work and keep maintenance records
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components. Troubleshoot, diagnose equipment failures and identify root cause for electrical equipment throughout mill
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical equipment, wiring and programs for equipment
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials
  • Correct unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Use appropriate test equipment as required


  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Qualification Red Seal in 442A/309A Certificate with strong knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years industrial experience in a continuous process work setting and industrial environment
  • Knowledge of PLC, Ladder logic, Prox’s and sensors
  • Excellent skills in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Must have planning and organizing skills
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to teach others and work within a team environment
  • Experience in working with a CMMS would be an asset
  • Experience with Rockwell equipment and Contrologix would be an asset
  • Must be able to work shift work
